The Experience
We depart from Ushuaia heading north along National Route N° 3, crossing the Fuegian valleys and enjoying a landscape that changes with every kilometer: mountains, native forest, vast peat bogs, meltwater rivers, and snow-covered peaks. Along the way, we make our first panoramic stop, an ideal place to take photos and appreciate the beauty of the winter scenery.
As we continue along the route, we enter one of the most representative winter areas of Tierra del Fuego. We pass several winter resorts, including the well-known Cerro Castor, surrounded by snowy forests and landscapes where different snow activities take place. We stop at one of these winter centers to enjoy the surroundings and learn a little more about winter life in Tierra del Fuego.
Before reaching Garibaldi Pass, we visit Haruwen, a winter center with a very unique proposal. There, we can discover its motorcycle museum, with special pieces and unique details, as well as a Fuegian gin distillery, a different experience that combines history, local production, and the spirit of the End of the World.
We then continue our journey and begin the ascent toward Garibaldi Pass, a unique place in Argentina: the point where National Route N° 3 crosses the Andes Mountains. From this natural viewpoint, we enjoy an impressive panoramic view of Escondido and Fagnano Lakes, surrounded by mountains, forests, and snow.
The adventure continues as we descend toward the lake area. Depending on road and weather conditions, we approach the shoreline to admire its cold waters, walk along the coast, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this unique natural setting.
Finally, after a great day exploring Fuegian landscapes, we return to a winter center to enjoy a well-deserved traditional lunch. One of the typical dishes is the famous Fuegian lamb, although other delicious options are also available. After lunch, we begin our return to the city of Ushuaia.
