The experience
Sail along the Beagle Channel aboard a catamaran and discover the winter landscapes surrounding Ushuaia. This experience combines marine wildlife watching, mountain views and a visit to the waters around the iconic Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse.
We depart from the Port of Ushuaia and cross the bay, enjoying panoramic views of the city from the sea. As we leave the coast behind, the mountains unfold above Ushuaia and accompany us into the Beagle Channel. In winter, snow-covered peaks and changing light on the water create wonderful opportunities for photography.
We approach Bird Island, where we can observe cormorants and other seabirds in their natural habitat. We then continue to Sea Lion Island to watch a colony of South American sea lions on the rocks and in the surrounding waters.
Our journey takes us to Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, one of Ushuaia’s most recognisable landmarks. We pause nearby to photograph it and admire its setting among rocky islets, mountains and the waters of the Beagle Channel.
Before returning, conditions permitting, we go ashore on one of the Bridges Islands. A short interpretive walk introduces us to the island environment and offers views of the channel from land, surrounded by Fuegian nature.
Finally, we sail back to the port, taking in the coastline and mountains that frame the city at the End of the World.
The itinerary and island landing are subject to weather and navigation conditions. The walk may be cancelled if trail conditions do not allow it to take place safely.
