Beagle Channel Navigation. Lighthouse and Sea Lions – Catamaran

Sailing the legendary Beagle Channel—once called Onashaga (“channel of hunters”) by the first inhabitants—is one of the best ways to connect with Tierra del Fuego’s wild and marine life. We invite you to enjoy an almost 3-hour cruise aboard a catamaran, a very stable vessel for a smooth ride through the channel’s waters. Join this unforgettable experience to see sea lions, southern birds, and the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse—and truly feel like you’re at the End of the World.

The experience

We depart from the port of Ushuaia aboard a catamaran and sail across Ushuaia Bay, enjoying panoramic views of the city and its surrounding mountains. As the coastline recedes, we enter the Beagle Channel, where islands, marine wildlife and the landscapes of Tierra del Fuego take centre stage.

We approach Bird Island, where we can observe cormorants and other seabirds in their natural habitat. We then continue to Sea Lion Island, home to a colony of South American sea lions, to watch them along the rocky shores and in the surrounding waters.

Our journey takes us to Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, one of Ushuaia’s most recognisable landmarks. With the channel and mountains as a backdrop, we will have the opportunity to photograph this iconic sight and take in the scenery at the End of the World.

Before returning, we go ashore on one of the Bridges Islands for a short interpretive walk, discovering the island environment and enjoying beautiful views of the Beagle Channel.

We return to Ushuaia after an experience filled with nature, wildlife and unforgettable scenery.

The itinerary and island landing are subject to weather and navigation conditions.
